One of the best things you can do with your MASSO is to make a backup of your settings.
It literally takes 30 seconds to do and can save you from a lot of problems later on if anything goes wrong. There is no excuse for not having one.
Not only that, but when it comes to asking for help one of the first things you will be asked for is a backup from your machine in the form of the printable file as it helps the person providing the assistance a look into how you have your machine setup.

MASSO has 2 types of backup files.
The first is a complete backup of your settings and is made up of 2 different files

For Multi-head machines the flies will be called
MASSO_5-Axis_Settings.htg
MASSO_5-Axis_Tools.htg

For Lathes the files will be called
MASSO_Lathe_2-Axis_Settings.htg
MASSO_Lathe_2-Axis_Tools.htg

These files reside in the MASSO/Machine Settings folder on your Flash drive and can be loaded back into the machine returning it to the state it was in when you took your backup.
It will restore both the machine settings and the tool settings that you see in the F4 tool table.
If you do not have the tools file you can still restore your machine settings.

The second type of backup is the Printable file
This is a copy of your machine settings in a readable format. It cannot be loaded into the machine but you can use it to see your settings and you can share it with others so that they can see how your machine is configured. It is a powerful troubleshooting aid.

For Multihead software the file is called MASSO Settings v5.07 (G3-xxxxx).txt and for lathe it is called MASSO Settings v5.07 (G3-xxxxx) Lathe.txt
The (G3-xxxxx) part of the file name will be your MASSO serial number. While the Printable file cannot be loaded into a machine it can still be used to restore your machine settings. It has all of the information needed to rebuild your machine from scratch. With a paper copy of the printable settings in your hand it takes only 5 minutes to reconfigure your machine from a default state.

Backing up your Settings
Go to the F1-Setup screen and open the Save & Load Calibration Settings window shown below.

Saving your Settings to files
Click the [Save to file] button and all calibration and setup settings will be saved to MASSO_Settings.htg and tool table MASSO_Tools.htg to the USB Flash drive.

Saving your Printable File
To save your printable file press the [Save printable file] button and the printable settings file will be saved as a txt file to your Flash Drive under the MASSO/Machine Settings folder.

Keep your back up safe
It takes no time at all to press both buttons when you are in the save and load calibration settings page but you still need to keep your settings safe. For added security keep a copy of your machine settings in a safe place. Either use a separate flash drive just for your settings backup or copy the files to your PC or other storage device. Keep a hard copy of your printable file handy.

I hope you find this useful and will make a backup of your settings next time you are standing at your machine. No one has ever regretted having a backup.

I hope you find this useful
