Made with MASSO: Featuring Cody Elkins — Cadence Manufacturing & Design

Meet Cody Elkins, founder of Cadence Manufacturing and Design, a true innovator who has turned his passion for CNC machining into a thriving business that serves makers all over the world. With over 20 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry, Cody has worn many hats: welder, machinist, quality manager, and engineer. His expertise in process development, automation, and precision manufacturing has shaped his journey into one of the most recognized names in the CNC maker community.
From Hobbyist to Industry Leader
Cody’s CNC journey began as a teenager and evolved into a lifelong passion. In 2017, he dove into the world of 3D printing, quickly branching out to lasers and CNC routers. After building his first CNC machine with Bob’s CNC in 2018, Cody began creating custom router bits to tackle the rigidity issues he faced on hobby-grade machines.
That small side project grew into something extraordinary — Jenny bits — precision-engineered cutting tools now trusted by thousands of makers worldwide. What began in his two-car garage has evolved into a global brand built on quality, reliability, and community.
The Power Behind His Precision: MASSO G3 Touch
Today, Cody runs a Onefinity Elite equipped with a MASSO G3 Touch Controller
— the core of his production and tool development workflow.
“For someone coming from the quality and manufacturing world, consistency is everything and MASSO delivers. It’s intuitive, reliable, and it just works. I love that it doesn’t need a PC, and it’s completely streamlined my process.”
Features like on-the-fly feed and speed adjustments, multiple work offsets, and multi-axis control allow Cody to prototype and test new bit designs with precision and ease, giving him more time to focus on what he loves most: creating.

Living in Two CNC Worlds
Cody splits his time between woodworking and precision tool grinding on his 5-axis CNC grinder. From crafting production components for clients to designing new Jenny bit profiles, his days are filled with creativity and problem-solving.
“There are surprising similarities between my MASSO controller and the industrial controller on my grinder,” Cody explains. “The workflow feels familiar — fast, responsive, and powerful.”
A Maker’s Milestone
When asked about his most memorable CNC moment, Cody immediately recalls launching the first Jenny bit — part number 8675309 — as a playful nod that unexpectedly became iconic in the CNC community.
“Seeing something I developed in my garage turn into a product line used worldwide is something I’ll never forget.”

Advice for Fellow Makers
