MASSO Subscription – A Personal Message: Listening, Learning, and Moving Forward Together
Over the past few days, I’ve been personally reading your comments, emails, and messages and I want to start by saying: thank you.
As the founder of MASSO and a fellow CNC maker, your feedback means everything to me. Whether it was encouragement, criticism, or thoughtful questions, I’ve taken it all to heart. That’s why I’m writing to you personally today.
When we first introduced the idea of a $19/month subscription for both software updates and cloud services, our intention was to offset the rising costs of development, infrastructure, and support services. But, after hearing your feedback clearly and consistently, we realised something important:
If it doesn’t feel right to our community, it’s not the right path.
So we’ve made the decision to change our approach because doing what’s right for our users will always come first.
Here’s what we’ve decided and I hope this supports our CNC community:
- All software updates for MASSO G3 will remain free because CNC users deserve ongoing innovation and bug fixes without barriers.
- PC based MASSO Link software for machine status and file transfer, and all future updates for MASSO Link will also remain free.
- All users will have access to their myWorkshop accounts to be able to manage and download current and new software versions.
- We will only charge a subscription for cloud-based services, like the MASSO myWorkshop PRO web and mobile apps. This is entirely optional and will be charged at a reduced fee of US$9/month/Controller, to help cover server and maintenance costs from 1st July 2025.
- These cloud-based features are currently available for free, and we highly encourage all users who haven’t explored them yet, to try them out and experience their benefits firsthand.
- And, to make this even easier for our users, we’ve chosen to offer it on a monthly basis instead of yearly, so you can manage your cashflow more easily, especially for smaller shops and hobbyists.
I also want to acknowledge something else many of you shared:
Yes, some developments have felt slow, and that’s fair feedback.
But that’s about to change.
We’ve been working hard behind the scenes and increasing the size of our development team size and I’m genuinely excited to tell you that some of the biggest updates MASSO has ever seen are on the way. This year you will start seeing some powerful new features, refinements, and improvements, based directly on your suggestions.
My own CNC journey started over 25 years ago, when I built my first CNC machine using parts from an old HP printer, to make circuit boards. I wasn’t an engineer or business owner, I was just someone who wanted to build. MASSO was born from the frustrations of not having access to a good stable CNC controller and a love for CNC. That passion still drives everything we do today.
This isn’t just a product, it’s a shared journey. And I hope you can see that we’re listening, we care, and we’re here for the long haul.
Thank you for being part of the MASSO community.
Please keep your feedback coming.
Warm regards,
