MASSO inputs... only PNP or NPN also

Do the inputs only accept positive voltage to trigger (PNP)? or can we ground the inputs to trigger them as well (NPN)?

Hi @skibbe

You can use either PNP or NPN sensors. If you use NPN then you need to provide a voltage to the input through a pullup resistor and the NPN sensor will ground the input taking it low. You can then invert the input to make it work as you want.

I use NPN sensors on mine, inverting the input and they have built in resistors which made wiring them easy.

Hope this helps

What's a good value for the pull up resistor?  5.6k?

Hi @skibbe

5.6K is a good all round value to use.

I wrote a document on the weekend that might help with identifying and wiring homing sensors. Have a look and see if helps.

Cheers

Peter,

What is the recommended watt rating for these resistors?

Thanks

@segoman-designs

It really doesn't matter as these are logic levels only and worst case scenario you couldn't even pull 1/8th of a watt.

If you go 1/4 watt you will be good.

That is a brilliant, easy to use matrix thanks Peter,

thanks heaps for all your work,
