Umbrella Tool Changer

Thanks @masso-support,

My machine has all axis, sensors and pneumatic working. I just need to connect the spindle to the masso. Unfortunetly i have ran out of time to do this as i am packing up to move houses in 3 weeks so ill start back up in early Feb.

Here is a video of it homing.

And here is a video of the tool changer inputs and outputs working.

Ill be full speed ahead once i have moved and resetup everything.

Thanks for the videos Ethan, that looks awesome and great to see you have it all working.

Could I ask where you got your homing sensors?  By the look of them they're hall effect.

Wish you all the best with your move.

Hi Peter,

Thank you. Its a good feeling having it working haha.

My homing sensors are SN04-N (NO and NPN). They are great functioning and clean looking. I just purchased some rip off brand from Aliexpress but the quality seams good. I guess time will tell..,searchweb201602_5_10065_10068_10130_10547_319_317_10548_10696_453_10084_454_10083_10618_431_10307_537_536_10131_10132_10133_10059_10884_10887_100031_321_322_10103,searchweb201603_1,ppcSwitch_0&algo_expid=dfc1b3f1-e822-49de-bbc1-39a1aa7a649e-3&algo_pvid=dfc1b3f1-e822-49de-bbc1-39a1aa7a649e

Any update on the tool changer logic? We are getting ready to implement the masso on a machine probably starting with in the month and would like to minimize down time.

Hi @manicalengineer, we are about to release a software update in a day or two and after this it will be a good point to get your tool changer logic done, so please just message us on this forum when you are ready and we can start working on it. When do you think you will be ready?

This tool changer setup is really interesting. A really nice work there. Following to see it working

@manicalengineer you guys ready? haven't heard back for a while. was hoping to finalize the logic for your machines.

We aren't at a point where we are installing, we are waiting for a break in manufacturing. What additional information do you need from us?

I'm curious on the how you handle the position logic for the carousel.. How does it know on what tool position it is within the carousel?

Also @masso-support, while we are at it, will the board be able to probe the tool and compare it to the entered tool length and see if the tool is present/broken. I think this would be a pretty easy implementation and a great feature to have.

Something like :

IF ProbeHeight > (ToolLenght + 0.2mm) OR IF ProbeHeight < (ToolLenght - 0.2mm)

GoTo ToolError

Else Goto ...

Pardon my coding skills, i learned VBA and nothing else 😉 By the way, i'm interested in helping out on this (if i can). Wether on the technical or fabrication

thats fine, please message on the forums when you are back. For us to keep up the workflow we generally work on something like this where changes can be made and tried on daily/regular basis so its best that whenever you are back working on the machine then we will get going on the logic.
